Antonin: Hunting Palace, Chopin and Nature
Accommodation in Antonin
Antonin combines a Hunting Palace with a Chopin exhibition and nature experiences around the Wydymacz Nature Reserve. This means you can choose different focuses for your trip, from culture and landscapes to outdoor activities. If you are interested in architecture and music, the palace offers striking details; if you prefer nature, you can explore the educational trail, the “Spotkanie z lasem” exhibition and the special features of the protected area.

Hunting Palace and Chopin Music Salon
The Hunting Palace in Antonin was built between 1822 and 1824 for Antoni Henryk Radziwiłł. A defining feature of the stately hunting hall is its central fluted column, adorned with deer heads and antlers. This unusual focal point connects the hall’s design with the theme of hunting, already reflected in the palace’s name. The extensive landscaped park surrounding the palace adds another dimension to its setting.
The palace also houses the Chopin Music Salon and a museum exhibition devoted to the composer. Architecture and music history offer distinct cultural experiences here. If you enjoy exploring specific rooms and details as well as an exhibition while travelling, Antonin offers more than one historical point of interest. The Chopin exhibition provides its own focus within the palace.
Discover history and nature
The former Neo-Romanesque Radziwiłł family burial chapel is also part of the town’s history. Today, it serves as a filial church dedicated to Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn. Graves containing the remains of family members transferred from the crypt are located around the chapel. Both its former function and its present-day use are part of its history.
Another way to explore the surroundings is the approximately 2 km nature trail in the Wydymacz Nature Reserve. It starts and ends at the “Ogrodówka” nature and forestry exhibition room on the grounds of the Antonin Forest District. The room houses the permanent exhibition “Spotkanie z lasem”. Its topics range from plant and animal life to the timber industry and nature conservation. The trail and exhibition offer different perspectives: the trail is designed as a nature route, while the exhibition brings together several aspects of the forest.
Two other named options offer active ways to explore Antonin: the red PTTK hiking trail WK – 3666 c and the Pętla Przygodzicka riding loop. They represent different ways of getting to know the area. When planning your trip, you can consider whether you would rather spend your time on a hiking trail, a riding loop or at nature interpretation stops.
Ponds and protected plants
The Przygodzice pond system includes the Szperek recreational pond in Antonin. Staw Wydymacz covers an area of approximately 10 ha. Both names connect the landscape with water, but refer to different bodies of water: Szperek is part of the pond system, while the area figure refers to Staw Wydymacz. The Wydymacz Nature Reserve protects, among other things, the Pomeranian honeysuckle and mezereon. Alongside the exhibition topics, visitors interested in nature can also consider the importance of protected plants as a distinct aspect of their trip.
The International Festival “Chopin w barwach jesieni” is held regularly in Antonin. It complements the musical exhibition in the palace with a festival that is also linked to the town’s association with Chopin. As it is held regularly but no specific date is given, check the dates for the relevant event when planning your trip.
Whether Antonin suits your plans depends on which of these interests you would like to combine: the Hunting Palace and music, the history of the former burial chapel, or nature and walking routes. These differences can help you decide whether to stay in a holiday apartment in Antonin, without assuming a particular location for the accommodation.
