Huta Szklana: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The church in Huta Szklana dates from 1774. It is an example of the 18th-century sacred timber-frame architecture characteristic of the border region between Greater Poland and Pomerania, and one of the oldest surviving monuments in the municipality of Krzyż Wielkopolski.

The origins of Huta Szklana are connected with a glassworks that already existed there in 1709. In 1716, an order issued by the commissioner of the Wieleń estates led to the establishment of an Olęder village in the area of present-day Huta Szklana. The village is located on the former road from Trzcianka to the bridge over the Drawa near Łokacz, which once served to transport cloth manufactured in the workshops of Trzcianka to Brandenburg.

Cycle Routes

Six cycle routes have been designated in the area of the Trzcianka Forest District. The blue-marked “In the Footsteps of the Sapiehas” cycle route passes through Huta Szklana and is one of these routes; it is 53 km long. The route connects natural and historical attractions, mainly associated with the history of the Sapieha magnate family, and runs along paved rural roads or roads with little traffic.

The “On Both Sides of the Noteć” cycle route follows quiet asphalt roads through the forests of the Drawska Forest and the Notecka Forest, offering the opportunity to visit architectural attractions along the way.
