Kvernaland brings together a range of attractions: a circular hiking trail crosses the Brekkenuten ridge to Stutafjell, there is a swimming area by Frøylandsvatnet, and Agriparken showcases agricultural equipment from the district. There is also the local hiking trail Tur 8: Stemmen. If you are looking for a holiday rental in Kvernaland, these specific experiences can help you decide what to focus on during your stay.

Circular hiking trail over Brekkenuten to Stutafjell

The Kvernhallen–Stutafjell circular hiking trail runs from Kvernaland over Brekkenuten to Stutafjell. It is 9.34 km long in total; the stated distance covers the outward and return journey. The trail is classified as moderately difficult. Its length and difficulty rating provide an initial guide if you are planning a day of hiking.

Along the way, Brekkenuten and Stutafjell offer views in several directions. The route also has five Stolpejakten checkpoints: one at the start, one on Brekkenuten, one at the gate by Grauthodl, one at the gate crossing on the climb to Trolltjørn, and one on Stutafjell. The viewpoints and checkpoints along the route are specific landmarks to help guide your route choice; they are located at different named points along the trail.

Water, nature and a theme park

Frøylandsvatnet at Gåsevik in Kvernaland has a swimming area. It can be reached via Kvernelandsvegen; parking is available at Frøyland School and Frøyland Lower Secondary School. This makes it possible to distinguish a trip to the water from a hiking day over Brekkenuten and Stutafjell, without combining the two destinations into a single circular walk.

Agriparken is located below the Frøyland schools by Frøylandsvatnet. This theme park brings together various agricultural machines made at factories in the district. A visit offers a different perspective on the area than the hiking trails: here, the focus is on machinery and its manufacture in the district, while the walks take in views and trail routes.

Near Kvernaland, a trail runs along the Klepp side of Frøylandsvatnet from Orstad to the Sandtangen area in Time municipality. Its well-maintained gravel surface is also suitable for wheelchair users; the trail is also used for hiking, exercise and cycling. The landscape alternates between coniferous and deciduous forest and open stretches with views across the water. Along the trail are sheltered coves, some with lush aquatic vegetation and others with sandy beaches. There is also a variety of birdlife: species to look out for include great crested grebes, moorhens, various types of ducks and swans.

Stemmen and other local pages

Time municipality lists Stemmen in Kvernaland as Tur 8 in its local hiking trails. The trail passes through Stemmen Park, which was developed by the Kvernaland velforening. There is parking for the Stemmen trail at Smiå. As well as the longer hike to Stutafjell, this gives you the choice of another local trail and a landscaped park as distinct excursion destinations.

When choosing your holiday rental, consider which of these experiences you would like to focus on during your stay: the moderately difficult circular hike with its views, Frøylandsvatnet, the theme park or the local trails. Find more local pages about Undheim and Bryne.
