Lake, Mountains and Active Days Around Limingen

Limingen is a distinctive char lake with crystal-clear water and a stony bottom. Arctic char is its predominant fish species and occurs in three ecological forms: standard char, dwarf char and grey char. There is also a population of trout. For anyone particularly interested in fishing, the lake offers a clear focus for a trip. The fishing licence for Limingen is valid for the lake within the boundaries of Røyrvik Municipality.

There are also various ways to spend days in the snow during winter. Børgefjellsenteret has two ski lifts and six downhill runs. In addition, around 25 km of groomed ski trails are available at Børgefjellsenteret and in Røyrvik. They wind through varied natural scenery and differ in length.

Hiking, Cycling and Playing

Numerous marked hiking trails lead through mountain landscapes around Børgefjellsenteret. They include short, easy family circuits as well as longer routes offering views of mountains and high plateaus.

Børgefjellsenteret also has a floating water park in Småtjønninn. Its 30 different features invite visitors to climb, balance and play. The bike park adds to the range of active pursuits with skill features of varying difficulty and length. It is still being developed and can be used free of charge and at your own risk. Various bicycle models can be rented from the service building.

Nature and History of the Børgefjell Area

Those who would like to learn more about nature as well as enjoy outdoor activities can visit the Fjellrevsenteret. This information centre is dedicated to the Arctic fox: visitors can see pictures of the animal and learn about the Arctic fox and Børgefjell. Sami people have practised reindeer herding, hunting, fishing and trapping in the Børgefjell National Park area for several centuries. Among other things, graves and settlement remains can be found there. Alongside its natural attractions, these themes give the landscape a cultural and historical dimension.

The wider Børgefjell National Park area has official access points with marked trails at the beginning, as well as some open cabins and rental cabins. When planning your trip, it is helpful to distinguish this larger area from the facilities directly at Børgefjellsenteret: the information about access points and cabins refers to the wider park area. A young Sami couple once lived in a gamme at Zarinatangen by Limingen.

On the Shores of Limingen

Zarinatangen Beach lies on the shore of Limingen. It has clear water and a designated barbecue area. This makes it easy to combine a stay by the lake with a break at the beach. When choosing a holiday rental in Limingen, you can start by considering what you want your holiday to focus on: fishing on the char lake, skiing and ski trails, activities at Børgefjellsenteret, or nature and cultural experiences in the Børgefjell National Park area. Visit Børgefjell is the tourist information centre and provides information about attractions, activities and accommodation. Fishing and hunting licences can also be purchased there.
