Accommodation in Tingvoll
Tingvoll offers many different reasons to get outdoors and take a closer look: viewpoints and hiking trails sit alongside architectural history, a museum and vibrant local traditions. The Utsikten route from Tingvollvågen is 1.4 kilometres each way and has an elevation gain of 86 metres. From the viewpoint, you can see across the Tingvollfjord towards Flemma and Reinsfjellet. If you’re planning a mountain biking experience, the first 0.9 kilometres of the route are well suited to it.
Hiking trails and views
Another hiking option leads to Geilhaugen. The hike to Geilhaugen is considered easy and suitable for everyone; Maretbua, located there, is open to all. From the viewpoint at Geilhaugen, you can look across Tingvollvågen and towards Stølsvatnet.
The paths around the floodlit trail also offer several options: from there, you can walk or cycle to the Tingvoll Museum and continue on to Reitfjellet. A new trail leads through Vasslia; there are several shelters along the way. The museum, trail and Reitfjellet can all be included as destinations for a stay with outdoor activities.
Architectural history and local traditions
Tingvoll kirke dates from around 1180 and is also known as Nordmørsdomen. It is built of stone; its door and window surrounds are made of marble and limestone. The listed vicarage, dating from 1730, stands right next to the church. These two buildings offer an opportunity to explore different historical periods and materials. Another trace of the past can be found at Honnhammaren in Tingvoll, where there are rock paintings dating back many thousands of years.
The Tingvoll Museum includes a mill, a water-powered sawmill, a smithy, a large dwelling house and a small crofter’s cottage. The different buildings and facilities make the museum a cultural attraction in its own right, alongside the historic buildings and rock paintings. In Tingvoll, Møre Bånd & Vev is also a testament to an old textile tradition that is still thriving.
Experiences for different interests
Tingvoll Økopark is a learning and visitor centre with four focus areas: organic farming, animal welfare, renewable energy and sustainable development. Visitors can explore the “Reisen i jorda” exhibition there. The annual cycle can be followed at Stjernehagen. These themes and the exhibition give the visit a different focus from hiking or architectural history.
The cheese-making tradition can also be included in your travel plans: Tingvollost offers a 30-minute guided tour by prior booking. It includes information about the farm and the cheese dairy, as well as a cheese platter. Golf enthusiasts will find Øydegard Golfbane in Tingvoll municipality: a par-62 golf course with two nine-hole loops and two tee boxes per green. Tingvoll Discgolfpark offers another sporting option. Its 18-hole course is in the outdoor park; each hole has two tee positions, a red beginner’s layout and a white layout for more experienced players.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Tingvoll, you can consider which experiences you want to shape your stay: hikes and views, culture and the museum, local traditions or sporting activities. The places of Øydegard, Torjulvågen, Kvisvik and Meisingset offer additional points of reference within Tingvoll: Øydegard, Torjulvågen, Kvisvik and Meisingset.
