Runs and Hikes Around Straume

Straumemila consists of seven different runs or hikes in total. These include a 2.3 km run for younger participants, as well as 5 km and 10 km runs. The start and finish are at Sotra Arena. Straumemila can also be completed with a pushchair or wheelchair. The route lengths offer different ways to incorporate the event into your travel plans.

The 5 km route follows trails by Skogavatnet and Ebbesvikvatnet, passes Park Sartorlunden and goes through the centre of Straume. You can identify this route by its named landmarks: it combines lakeside paths, the park and the town centre along the way. The Kyrkjevegen circular route between Foldnes and Hjelteryggen is a separate option; it is 5.2 km long and can be walked all year round.

Kyrkjevegen and the Day Hike Cabin

For wheelchair users, Kyrkjevegen is accessible as far as Larslivatnet. The day hike cabin Larslibua is located by Larslivatnet on Kyrkjevegen in Foldnes, Straume. Access is via a gently rising gravel path suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs; a wheelchair ramp leads into the cabin. The car park for Larslibua is by Foldnes Church.

The municipality's description lists Larslibua as open to all hikers every day. The day hike cabin cannot be reserved. If you are considering a visit, take both details into account when planning. The access information refers to the path to the cabin and the ramp into it; the section of Kyrkjevegen accessible to wheelchair users extends as far as Larslivatnet.

Breaks in the Park and by the Water

Park Sartorlunden has several benches and a climbing and exercise area in its southern section. You can therefore find both places to sit and a designated area for physical activity there. The shore of Skogavatnet is used for events, breaks and recreation. If you would like to make your stay varied, you can consider these different uses as ideas for active and quieter parts of your trip.

Geitevikja is a popular swimming and outdoor recreation area. It has a universally accessible swimming pier, also known as an accessible bathing ramp, leading into the sea. This is a practical point of reference for anyone who would like to include a swimming stop when choosing activities.
