Kolltveit combines a setting shaped by cultural and pastoral landscapes with hiking trails, waterways and golf. Hilly terrain, in places with steep west-facing slopes and rocky ridges, is part of the landscape, as are interconnected expanses of water. You can tailor your stay to whether you would rather hike, paddle or spend time on a golf course.

Waterways and landscape in Kolltveit

Nordravatnet is the northernmost part of Storavatnet. Several shallow bays and small inlets define this lake, which is listed as an important cultural landscape lake. The Kolltveit watercourse is also a defining landscape feature: as an interconnected water system, it includes Morlandsvassdraget, Kyrkjenibbvatnet, Midtvatnet and Liavatnet.

You can paddle south along the Kolltveit watercourse to Kørilden in Trengereid and onward to Eidesjøen. If you would like to include water activities in your holiday plans, this gives you a specific way to explore Kolltveit. The area around Storavatnet and Nordravatnet is often used for outdoor recreation; together with the hilly terrain, the lakes and inlets are another part of the area's character.

Hiking trails and traces of local history

Kolltveitmarka is a popular hiking area with many hiking opportunities. One section of trail follows the old church path. For a different view of the landscape, there is a suggested route around Storavatnet in Kolltveitmarka, which passes, among other things, over the distinctive Bekkebrua. Short detours offer views of several dams. Bekkebrua was restored in the winter of 2021.

The dams at Storavatnet are connected with the mill and the later cannery at Kolltveit quay. An outing in Kolltveitmarka can therefore combine exercise with a glimpse into the history of local work and land use. If you would like to combine hiking with local history, the trail section along the old church path and the suggested route around Storavatnet offer different points of interest.

Golf: Driving range and two courses

Golf is another activity available in Kolltveit. The Sotra Golf Club's driving range is located on the Kolltveit Tunnel. It has hitting mats, a large putting green and a sand bunker. The Sotra Golf Club in Kolltveit also has a 9-hole main course and a 9-hole pitch-and-putt course. If you would like to try the short game, you can use the pitch-and-putt course without a membership or golf card. The different golf options let you choose whether to focus your holiday on practice at the driving range or a round on one of the courses.

Kolltveit as a starting point for your stay

From Bergen, the route to Kolltveitmarka follows the FV555 to Sotra, then turns towards Bildøybakken before the Kolltveit Tunnel, and continues towards Kolltveit. When looking for a holiday apartment in Kolltveit, you can first consider which of the activities described you would like to shape your holiday: hiking trails and scenery, paddling on the Kolltveit watercourse, or golf at the Sotra Golf Club. That way, your choice can reflect your interests without any one activity defining the character of the place.
