Jordet combines cultural history with various opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. Villa Wessel tells the story of a building that once brought together a general store, post office, telephone exchange and private residence. There is also Nordre Trysil Church, a lit cross-country ski trail, hiking trails and disc golf. This allows you to take different interests into account when planning your trip—from seeing a historic building to activities with children.

Cultural History and Church Architecture

The main house at Villa Wessel was built in 1898 with Swiss-style details. It served as a general store with a post office and telephone exchange, as well as the merchant’s private residence. Trade, communication and living were thus part of the original function of the same building. Today, Villa Wessel is considered a cultural heritage site worthy of preservation; its long history and authentic state of preservation are noted. Anyone interested in the history of the place will find a tangible point of interest here that goes beyond its use as a residence.

Nordre Trysil Church offers a different focus: it was built in 2000 and designed by Anders Gunnestad. The church stands on a hill south of the village of Jordet and is visible from the RV25 and FV215. The pilgrim path also passes directly by it. If you are interested in church architecture or pilgrim paths, you can factor these details into your travel plans; the hilltop location and the route of the path provide clear directions to the church.

Cross-Country Skiing, Hiking and Skiing

The lit cross-country ski trail in Jordet is about 2.5 kilometres long and also has shorter loops. Alongside the stated trail length, there are therefore shorter routes. The trail is also a starting point for longer hikes on Nordre Trysil’s network of hiking trails. Cross-country skiing and hiking are thus different ways to enjoy the trails mentioned in Jordet during an active day.

There is also a specific skiing tip for families with very young children: from the car park at the stadium in Jordet, you can ski south with very young children. If you are travelling with small children, you can take this tip into account along with the shorter loops on the trail. It describes a separate skiing option; the lit trail should be considered separately as a cross-country skiing option with its approximate length.

Disc Golf at Jordet Ski Stadium

Norda Mørs Disc Golf Course is a woodland course on the lit trail at Jordet ski stadium. The course opened in 2024 with nine holes and was later expanded to 18 holes, as well as an additional 5-hole children’s course. These two course formats offer different options within the disc golf facilities; the children’s course is specifically identified as such. If you don’t have your own discs, you can borrow some. This makes whether you bring your own equipment less important when planning your visit.

Jordet as a Travel Destination

When looking for a holiday apartment, consider Jordet as a destination if you want the village’s cultural and recreational offerings to shape your stay. Think about whether your trip will be driven more by the cultural heritage site and the church, or by the opportunities for cross-country skiing, hiking, skiing and disc golf. This way, the experience you want takes centre stage when choosing your destination.
