'S-Gravenzande offers a variety of ways to make your days at the same holiday destination varied. The protected Staelduinse Bos nature reserve near 's-Gravenzande mainly consists of old deciduous woodland and some surrounding areas of grassland. Signposted walking trails lead through the area; there is also a wheelchair-accessible path. A cycling route also runs through Staelduinse Bos.

One specific option for a walk is the Vleermuisroute. The 3.5 km walking trail is marked with red posts. Its length of 3.5 kilometres provides a clear framework when this trail is planned as a separate part of the day.

Beach Access Points for Different Days Out

The beach at 's-Gravenzande has three different access points. At the Slag Beukel beach access point, there are two beach pavilions offering various beach activities such as blokarting and power kiting. At the Slag Vlugtenburg beach access point, possible activities include surfing, yoga and running.

Slag Arendsduin can only be reached on foot or by bicycle. The access point leads to a quiet beach without beach pavilions.

Local Life, Cycling Route and Practical Orientation

The centre is also part of choosing a destination: 's-Gravenzande has a diverse range of shops, including local stores. Numerous restaurants are located in the centre, while several beach pavilions with food and drink facilities can be found on the beach.

A 19 km cycling and walking tour passes through 's-Gravenzande. To travel to Staelduinse Bos, bus route 31 runs from Naaldwijk to the Heenweg stop on Naaldwijkseweg in 's-Gravenzande; from there, it is a total walk of 25 minutes to Staelduinse Bos.

History and Culture in the Town

The Dorpskerk in 's-Gravenzande was built as a smaller church in 1815–1816 and extended in 1850, giving it its present form. Its current organ dates from 1899. An image of Mary in the Dorpskerk acquired a reputation for performing great miracles and helped 's-Gravenzande become an important place of pilgrimage. For visitors interested in culture, the town's architectural history is linked here with a religious tradition.

The historic buildings also include the Trapgevelhuisje in 's-Gravenzande. It was built in 1639 and has the status of a Rijksmonument. The former 's-Gravenzande railway station was built in 1904; in the past, the tram operated by the Westlandsche Stoomtramweg Maatschappij stopped there.

Mill, Asparagus History and Local Discoveries

The Korenmolen van Maat is an octagonal gallery mill, also known as a Baliemühle. It was built in 1908 and put into operation in 1909. Its original milling function has been restored since 2020. The history of Herberg De Spaansche Vloot also forms part of the town's culinary character: in the 19th century, it became widely known for the excellent asparagus dishes served there.
