Pijnacker-Nootdorp: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Nootdorp stands Windlust, a grain mill built in 1885 with an octagonal mill body and the cap of a mill dated 1781 in Delft. By arrangement, Windlust is open to the public, usually on Saturdays or when the miller is present.

Nature

Bieslandse Bos combines woodland, marshland, ruderal areas and open polder landscape. Hiking trails run through the area, and there is also a play forest for children. Bieslandse Bos is also home to the Krekengebied, with its distinctive marshland nature. It provides a habitat for bluethroats and occasionally bitterns. The inaccessible marshland is surrounded by hiking trails. Bicycles and horses are not permitted on the hiking trails in Bieslandse Bos; in the Krekengebied, dogs must always be kept on a lead.

Wanderbos connects Dobbeplas, De Balij and Bieslandse Bos. Along the way, woodland, ruderal areas and open polder landscape alternate. Around Dobbeplas, you can go for a walk, skate or relax by the water. Dobbeplas has a sandy beach, a play and sunbathing meadow, and space for games or a picnic. Water rails, bitterns, kingfishers and common snipe feel at home on a nature island.

Groenzoom is a 560-hectare nature and recreation area with bodies of water as well as reed beds and grassland. Cycling, walking, canoeing and horse riding are possible there. Groenzoom lies within a protected landscape. In Buytenhout, paths lead through the open polder landscape, where cattle graze; you can walk or cycle there. A play forest and a gnome trail are aimed at younger nature lovers. The woodland hiking area is suitable for walking and sports. Dogs are welcome there on a lead, and there is also an off-leash dog area.

Birds and views

The Ackerdijkse Plassen are an important bird area in the Netherlands. Despite the pressure from the Randstad, the area provides a habitat for many special bird species. The nature reserve is not freely accessible, but can be explored as part of activities with a ranger. De Tureluur Tower is one of three viewpoints at the Ackerdijkse Plassen. From there, the view extends across the bird reserve to the Rotterdam skyline.

Experiences

At De Balij Play Forest, the activities revolve around knights. You can play hide-and-seek, jump over ditches, climb, roam around and build a shelter there. In the municipality of Pijnacker-Nootdorp, Koetastisch runs an organic dairy farm offering educational farm activities.

History and culture

There are 15 historical information panels about the history of the municipality in Pijnacker-Nootdorp. Five Stolpersteine commemorate Jewish residents who were murdered during the Second World War. A historical focal point is the Dorpskerk: it stands on the site of Pijnacker's former parish church, next to the distinctive tower. The historic tower was originally a defensive tower. The leaning tower next to the Dorpskerk housed a bell from 1434 called Barbara.

An interactive map of Pijnacker's historical heritage allows you to choose your own routes between monuments and Stolpersteine. A historical walking tour starts and ends at the Dorpskerk and passes historic buildings, facade stones and Stolpersteine.

CulturA & Zo offers theatre, group music-making, painting and activities for children. The venue includes a theatre hall, a catering area, rehearsal rooms and a library with around 20,000 books.

Pijnacker-Nootdorp is served by the Nootdorp, Pijnacker-Centrum and Pijnacker-Zuid metro stations. All three stations belong to Line E.
