The present-day Maria Magdalena Church provides another historic focal point. It was brought into use on 11 July 1887 and designed in the neo-Gothic style by E. Margry, a student of P.J.H. Cuypers – based on the plan of the Roman Catholic church in Sappemeer.

The Dijkmolen is an octagonal polder windmill dating from 1718, located north of the village. Also north of the village stands De Drie Lelies, a round stone grain mill dating from 1767. This historic picture is complemented by a summer house built shortly after 1555, which is still preserved today. Thus, the historic character encompasses the summer house built shortly after 1555, the mills from 1718 and 1767, and the neo-Gothic church brought into use in 1887.

Water, nature and trails

The Foppenplas offers various ways to experience the landscape actively. You can go out on the water by rowing boat or canoe. The Foppenplas area also has walking, cycling and inline skating routes.
