Architectural History at Kerkbuurt

The tower consists of three sections and has a spire dating from 1893.

Kerkbuurt 78 is an 18th-century house with wooden walls and a tall chimney. Kerkbuurt 80 is an 18th- to 19th-century village house with wooden side walls and a later front façade. Wijdenes is also home to De Stofmolen, a grain mill. The present-day De Stofmolen was built in 1911 using parts of Het Vette Schaap from Zaandijk.

On the Markermeer at the Zuiderdijk stands the Vuurtje van Leek, a small light beacon built for navigation. The present-day Vuurtje van Leek has been documented there since 2001. Together with the church, the houses on Kerkbuurt and the grain mill, it creates a rich picture of architectural forms, later additions and regional history.
