Historic architecture in the village center

In the center of Jabeek, the Sint-Gertrudiskerk stands on a church hill and is surrounded by a walled cemetery. In the churchyard at Dorpstraat 34, there is a stone grave cross dating from 1825. This gives the church surroundings a distinctive historic detail.

The vicarage stands at Dorpstraat 30 and is an 18th-century brick building. Two lower front wings are located on either side of the forecourt. Their arrangement shapes the architectural appearance of the house.

Farmsteads and wayside crosses on Etzenrade

The Etzenraderhof stands at Etzenrade 1. It is an early modern brick manor farm with an inner courtyard. Opposite the Etzenraderhof stands a wayside cross with a wooden corpus dating from 1764. Het Huisken stands at Etzenrade 11. It is a brick-built farm arranged around an inner courtyard and belongs to the former Etzenrade castle complex. Het Huisken has a taller entrance wing with a bell gable dating from 1710. Opposite Het Huisken, another wayside cross with a wooden corpus from the second half of the 17th century stands in a lime-tree bower.

The former Roermolen at Roermolen 1 is a brick building with a hipped roof dating from 1794. The large brick farm complex at Eindstraat 17 is arranged around an enclosed inner courtyard and dates from the early 19th century.

Roode Beek and Beekdaelen Route

The Roode Beek flows through and around Jabeek, providing a landscape connection alongside the architecture. The Beekdaelen Route is another option for planning your day: its 36-kilometer western loop passes through Jabeek. The Beekdaelen Route consists of three cycling loops that are easy to follow via the bicycle junction network and the colorful Beekdaelen route signs. Combining the 36-kilometer western loop with several other loops helps you plan your cycling day according to the desired distance and level of orientation.
