The walking route around Reindersmeer starts at Bezoekerscentrum De Maasduinen in Well and is 7.8 km long. The red walking route around Reindersmeer in Bosserheide follows the water, crosses sandy shores and passes through varied forest. Bezoekerscentrum De Maasduinen is located in the heart of Nationaal Park De Maasduinen and was built in the old lock that connected Reindersmeer with Leukermeer.

Family experiences at Reindersmeer

The family trail at Reindersmeer includes a self-service ferry that allows you to pull yourself across to the other side. The trail is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Speelbos De Boskoel is a natural forest playground at Reindersmeer; children can climb, swing, play with sand and water, and build dens there.

Castles, chapels and traces of history

Kasteel Well is a moated castle that was originally built in the 14th century and acquired its current appearance in the 17th century. The complex stands on a site surrounded by two moats and includes U-shaped outbuildings as well as the ruins of a tower mill. It is not possible to visit the building of Kasteel Well.

On a rise in the Maas floodplains, Sint Rochuskapel stands next to the farmstead known as “Kamperhof” or “Kapelhof”, dating from 1647. Rochuskapel was completed as a neighbourhood chapel in 1715, after Derck Damen decided to establish it in 1714. Sint Vituskerkhof preserves the lower masonry of the old St Vitus Church from the 15th century and the second quarter of the 19th century; the church was destroyed in 1944. Sint Vituskerkhof was designated a Rijksmonument, meaning a national heritage monument, in 1970. Among other features, it has an entrance through the old tower doorway.
