The marked 5-kilometre hiking route “Veluwezoom-Posbank” leads over the hills and valleys of the heathland around Posbank. The “Heuven Beekhuizen Veluwezoom” hiking route runs through the forest, along bodies of water and past the banks of the Beekhuizense Beek. For a shorter excursion, the “Schaapskooi Veluwezoom” route near Rheden leads across the Heuven estate to the sheep barn and is also suitable for grandparents and children. The different route lengths and landscapes help you plan the daily rhythm of your trip.

Veluwezoom Visitor Centre

The “Veluwezoom-Posbank” hiking route starts at the Veluwezoom Visitor Centre. The centre is approximately 1 kilometre, or a 12-minute walk, from Rheden railway station. It is also not far from the city of Arnhem, and Posbank can be reached on foot. In the same building, you can rent bicycles and kick scooters from the VVV. Sheep, heathland and Heuven estate

The Rhedense Schaapskudde is one of the oldest sheep flocks still in existence in the Netherlands. For more than 60 years, the flock has grazed the Rhedense Heide around Posbank and, on behalf of Natuurmonumenten, has helped keep parts of Veluwezoom open and promote biodiversity in the open landscape. It includes the Schaapskooi Rheden, an old, monumental sheep barn on the Heuven estate north of Rheden; since 1956, it has served as a home base for a large flock of Veluwse Heideschapen.

The Brandtoren near Posbank is 34 metres high and can be climbed freely up to a height of 6 metres. The Dorpskerk has two unique organs. Its main organ is a Meere organ dating from 1816, which was later extended in 1878 and restored in 1954, 1979 and 2011. The IVN-Tuin of the Oost-Veluwezoom branch is also located on the Heuven estate. It is maintained by members of the branch; walks are possible, and guided tours with a guide can be arranged by appointment.
