Sinderen combines historic traces with paths through nature. The Wissink and Idink-Nibbelinkbos nature reserves are located around the village; at the same time, the Keurhorsterkerk, the De Nieuwe Molen windmill, visible parts of the outer moat of Huis Sinderen and a former railway station building provide several tangible points of interest.

Holiday apartment in Sinderen between nature and culture

If you choose a holiday apartment in Sinderen as the base for your stay, you can shape your days according to your interests. The Sinderen church-path route is approximately 28 kilometres long. The historic church paths around Sinderen offer car-free routes for walkers and cyclists. This makes the area a combination of cycling, hiking and cultural-historical attractions.

Churches, a windmill and historic traces

The Keurhorsterkerk, located at Sinderenseweg 61 in Sinderen, is included on the municipal heritage list of Oude IJsselstreek. In 2006, it was extensively renovated and converted into a contemporary, in many respects more accessible building for multiple uses.

Another notable landmark is Maalderij De Nieuwe Molen at Keurhorsterweg 5 in Sinderen. It is a Dutch Rijksmonument, a designated national heritage site. Several times a year, demonstrations as well as milling and baking activities take place at the Nieuwe Molen. The focus here is on historic mill work and practical craft traditions.

Some parts of the outer moat of Huis Sinderen are still visible along Kasteelweg and Rentmeesterlaan. The former Sinderen railway station building also stands on Sinderenseweg. It is a remnant of the Varsseveld–Dinxperlo railway line, which was in operation from 1901 to 1953.

A destination for families and active days

For a day out with children, the Natuur-, avonturen- en kabouterpad is located at Koffieboerderij Groot Nibbelink. The walking trail is approximately 1 kilometre long and is aimed at children. Koffieboerderij Groot-Nibbelink also serves as a rest stop with a playground for cycling and hiking tours. If you are travelling with children, you can combine this trail with a break at the playground.

Paths through the countryside

The Stichting Kerk- en Fietspaden Sinderen e.o. has restored several unpaved paths and connected them to local cycling and hiking routes. Together with the nature reserves around Sinderen, this provides a good basis for days spent exploring on foot or by bicycle. Sinderen is also home to a work of art from the Silo Art Tour, adding another artistic accent alongside the historic traces.

Sacred places and Sunday services

The Antoniuskapel served as a prayer chapel for the residents of the Groot-Breedenbroek and Sinderen districts. On Sundays, the Protestantse Gemeente Varsseveld holds morning services either in the Grote- or Laurentiuskerk or in the Keurhorsterkerk. Religious sites and local congregational traditions can therefore also be among the possible themes of a stay.

You can find more places to help plan your trip in Terborg, Ulft, Breedenbroek, Varsselder, Silvolde, Varsseveld and Westendorp.
