Church, parish and historic traces

The complex of the Hervormde Kerk Tuil comprises a church, a tower, a consistory, an entrance gate with wall, as well as a vicarage with an attached coach house and gate. The tower dates from the 14th century, while the church nave dates from 1810; the consistory dates from around 1850. The parish of Tuil is first mentioned in 1031 and was historically the mother church of Haaften, Hellouw, Gameren and Nieuwaal.

There are also historic relics outside the church complex. The Melssinghdreef was the access road to the former Kasteel Den Esch. A grass path behind number 3A on the Melssinghdreef remains as a remnant of this old access road. In Tuil's floodplain, paving stones from the historic Langstraat are also still visible. The Kastelenroute West Betuwe includes, in the Waalroute section, the route from Meteren to Vuren and 16 castles. Kasteel Klingelenburg bears the names Huys te Tuil and Huys Klingelenburg and is part of Kastelenroute West Betuwe 2: Waalroute.

River landscape with old waterways

Rondje Tuil is a circular walking route of more than 4 kilometres in and around the village of Tuil. It passes elements typical of the river landscape, such as orchards, kolken and grienden. Grienden are wet areas that are regularly flooded, have lush undergrowth including mosses and liverworts, and are rich in birds and insects. Beneath the Tuilse Put lies a remnant of the former branch of the Waal; the Tuilse Put itself is a sand extraction pit. During the walk, kingfishers may be spotted near the griend and the cut-off branch of the Waal, if you are lucky.

The floodplain next to the Tuilse harbour has been opened to walkers.

Short trails and play area

The Kabouterpad near Tuil is a short walking route exactly 1 kilometre long around the Tuilse Put and was opened in 2024. Along the Kabouterpad are posts with QR codes that help children search for the gnome Kolkie while learning about the nature and animals of the surrounding area. Visiting the Kabouterpad in Tuil is free of charge.
