Tivat: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The “Etnografsko nasljeđe Tivta” collection is displayed in the medieval Buća complex. It includes traditional clothing, handicrafts, important local personalities and intangible heritage. Porto Montenegro is home to the Muzej podmornica, which houses the P-821 Heroj submarine. The Zbirka pomorskog nasljeđa presents maritime traditions and the nautical history of the Adriatic.

The Bokeljska mornarica was founded in 809, recognised as Montenegro’s intangible heritage in 2013, and follows traditional ceremonies in Tivat. The Jadran sailing ship, built in 1933 and associated with Tivat’s maritime tradition, can be visited during seasonal Open Day events.

The nearby island of Gospa od Milosti is home to a Franciscan monastery and a church; pilgrims have visited the island continuously for more than 500 years. The nearby Crkva Rođenja Marijinog, mala Gospa, in Gornja Lastva was built in 1410 and has a Baroque altar created by Venetian masters. The nearby Miholjska Prevlaka, also known as Flower Island, is home to a monastery built in the 6th century; visitors can tour the monastery and spend time at the beach.

Nature

Veliki gradski park was laid out in 1892 on the former estates of the Radali and Verona families. Since 2015, it has had protected status as a natural monument. The nearby Tivatska Solila area lies on the Adriatic migration corridor and serves as a resting and feeding ground for migratory birds; some species overwinter there. Tivatska Solila has been protected as a special nature reserve since 2008.

Activities

Tivat’s streets are described as being equipped with marked cycle lanes. Routes mentioned for Tivat include walking, hiking and mountain biking trails on Vrmac and the Luštica peninsula, offering views of the Bay of Kotor and the Adriatic. The “Život na Luštici” panoramic route can be accessed from the Tivat–Budva road and leads via Bjelila, Krašići, Zabrđe and Klince before continuing through villages on Luštica towards Luštica Bay.

The tivatski zaliv and Pržno Bay are designated diving sites with clear water, shipwrecks and Mediterranean marine flora. The Neptun-Mimoza diving club in Tivat offers diving training as well as the rental and maintenance of complete diving equipment. The tivatski zaliv is described as suitable for recreational kayaking because of its calm waters and natural scenery. Stand-up paddleboarding is described as an activity available in Tivat and as possible without prior experience.

Food and Drink

The Pine promenade features café and restaurant terraces. Pine’s krempita is described as the favourite dessert of Tivat’s locals and visitors.
