Risan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
History
Risan’s Illyrian origins date back to the 3rd century BC. Risan became a centre and the main fortress of the Illyrian state and is associated with the reign of Queen Teuta. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Risan can then continue their search for accommodation.
Nature
Risan occupies the northern end of the Bay of Kotor. Risanski Bay lies to the south; on the other sides, steep slopes of the Dinaric system rise up.
Risanski Bay is part of the protected natural and cultural-historical region of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape that brings together bays, mountains, settlements and historic architecture.
Culture
The central Church of Saints Peter and Paul was built in 1601 and houses a collection of icons by masters of the Boka Kotorska school.
The Museum of Risan presents the foundations of the Roman Villa Urbana, the mosaic patterns room by room and a central atrium. The site preserves mosaics in five rooms, including a striking depiction of the sleeping god Hypnos.
Near Risan, in Lipci, there are prehistoric rock carvings described as the oldest in Montenegro and associated with settlement in the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age.

Površnica, Popov Vrh and Sveti Nikola are located near Risan. The surrounding area of Risan includes Bloštice, Bioštice, Sveti Ðorđe and Sveta Agata.
