Ukmergė: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture
The Old Town of Ukmergė is a well-preserved urban monument dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries, with numerous characteristic buildings from this period. The Ukmergė Regional Museum, Ukmergės kraštotyros muziejus, presents a chronological overview of the region’s history through exhibits on natural history, archaeology, history and ethnography, written culture, and art. The museum was ceremonially opened on 6 May 1944, and its permanent exhibitions were renewed in 2021.
Religious architecture includes the Church of the Holy Trinity in Ukmergė, a brick building erected in 1868 in the Neo-Byzantine style, which is now used as a Catholic church. The Church of St Peter and St Paul combines Neoclassical, Neo-Romantic, and Neo-Baroque architectural elements. The town clock can also be seen after dark: its hands and the stainless-steel symbols of Baltic gods, which represent the hours in the town clock’s design, are illuminated. The old fire station tower is 18 metres high and was built at the beginning of the ninth decade of the 19th century.

History
The Ukmergės piliakalnis is located in the town centre on the right bank of the Šventoji and the left bank of the Vilkmergės upelis. It is a medieval castle complex dating from the 14th century to the middle of the 15th century. Vilkmergės pilis Castle has been mentioned since 1333 and was an important defensive site. The Ukmergės piliakalnis also features an illuminated serpentine path made of a metal structure, adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Pilies Park is situated on the castle hill, where a brick castle fortress was built in the 15th century. The park has three illuminated viewpoints overlooking Ukmergė. The walking paths have also been renovated, a children’s playground has been created, and outdoor musical instruments have been installed.
The former Great Synagogue of Ukmergė was an important spiritual, cultural, and community centre. It was first mentioned in 1721; the Kahal and synagogue were probably already operating from the late 17th century. From 1851 onwards, the former Great Synagogue was remodelled into a brick building featuring interconnected Baroque and Classicist design elements.

The Podolės Kameneco takas is an 800-metre-long illuminated cycle and walking path along the Šventoji between Vilniaus and Jono Basanavičiaus Streets. There is a water station, benches, and a children’s playground along the path. The one-kilometre-long Mirabelių takas also runs along the right bank of the Šventoji; this walking path provides access to the river and features a children’s playground, rest areas, and picnic sites.
The Pivonijos šilo sveikatingumo takas consists of two wide circular trails with natural surfaces, measuring 1.65 km and 1.80 km in length. These trails are suitable for sporting activities, cycling, peaceful walks, and relaxing on a bench in the shade of the trees.

Ukmergė’s town festival is held annually to mark the town’s birthday, which is celebrated as a festive occasion. It includes theatrical parades, concerts, sports competitions, other events and entertainment, as well as a craft market.
The “Mini Lietuva” miniature park displays carefully recreated miniatures of significant Lithuanian architectural and cultural monuments and is a place where visitors can get to know all of Lithuania in a single day. “Mini Lietuva” is located on the 1.65-hectare grounds of a former military settlement, with paths, benches, sports facilities, and children’s playgrounds.
