Zerman combines sacred art, villa architecture, golf and a local festival tradition. The Church of Sant’Elena is joined by Villa Zuliani and Villa Condulmer, while Golf Zerman provides a sporting focus. In August, the Sagra di Sant’Elena Imperatrice is part of local life. When planning a trip, culture, sport and a seasonal festival can therefore be considered as separate themes.

Church of Sant’Elena: History and Art

The Church of Sant’Elena in Zerman was, from 1231, a simple chapel under the jurisdiction of Collalto and connected to Nervesa Abbey. In 1596, it became a parish church when a baptismal font was installed. Its present form was created through expansion work entrusted to the architect Giuseppe Segusini, who came from Feltre. This gave the building a distinctly Neo-Renaissance appearance.

The high altar of the Church of Sant’Elena features an altarpiece of the Madonna, Child and Saints by Palma il Vecchio. Above the portal, in the pronaos, there is a fresco of Saint Helena attributed to Paolo Veronese. Visitors interested in culture can therefore focus on the high altar and the pronaos, as well as on an altarpiece and a fresco, within the church building.

Villa Architecture in Zerman

The villas also add their own historical character to Zerman. Villa Zuliani in Zerman dates from the 16th century, while also featuring elements from the 17th century and exterior frescoes by the Veronese school. For visitors interested in culture, Villa Zuliani thus combines architectural history with exterior painting. Villa Condulmer in Zerman was rebuilt in the 17th century.

Golf Zerman: From Practice Facility to Competition Course

Golf Zerman was established in 1993 based on a project by engineer Arcibaldo Bonaventura. Initially, the facility was a practice facility with an adjoining three-hole course; over the years, it was expanded to nine holes.

Golf Zerman currently has a par-35/70 competition course with 9 or 18 holes and a length of 5,874 metres. The golf course extends across flat terrain. Those choosing between nine and 18 holes can fit this option into their daily schedule; the course length and flat terrain remain the specific key details.

Sagra di Sant’Elena Imperatrice in August

The Sagra di Sant’Elena Imperatrice is part of the local festival tradition. Originating as a wine festival, it is held in Zerman in August and is regarded as a symbolic event for the local community. For those interested in wine and festival traditions, August is therefore the key period to include in their travel plans.
