Discover Istrana: Villas, Paths and the Sile Landscape
Accommodation in Istrana
Istrana combines impressive villas, historic paths and a spring-fed landscape along the Sile. If you are looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home for your trip, it is worth first considering which experiences should shape your stay: culture and architecture, walks in nature, local traditions or a mixture of everything. The town offers different starting points for this, without requiring you to commit to just one way of travelling.

Villas and History in the Townscape
A key attraction for visitors interested in culture is Villa Lattes. It was completed in 1715 and designed by the Venetian architect Giorgio Massari (1687–1766). The complex includes two barchesse, an oratory, several historic buildings formerly used for agricultural purposes and a historic park. Two statues by Marinali and busts of the twelve Caesars stand there. It is precisely this combination of the main building, ancillary buildings and park that makes the complex a place where architecture and historic design can be viewed together.
Villa Moretti is also part of Istrana’s historic character. The protected historic building dates from approximately 1800. The architectural picture is complemented by the Old Roman Postumia Road, later also called the “Napoleonic Road”. It runs through Istrana and was used as a historic route by armies and pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela. The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista is listed in the cultural heritage inventory of the Province of Treviso. Another cultural highlight is the Teatro in Villa theatre series, organised by the Istrana library together with the Pro Loco and the Il Satiro Teatro association.
Nature Trails and Local Experiences
Anyone wishing to plan some time outdoors between sightseeing activities will find another side of Istrana. The area includes a spring-fed lowland along the Sile River, which forms part of the river landscape. The Rio de Na Volta is a nature-oriented trail that emerged from a project begun in 2019 to revive the memory of natural sites. For a trip involving different interests, this makes it possible to complement a cultural day with a nature-focused activity.
The Passeggiata Ecologica held its 43rd edition in 2025. This historic local event is dedicated to rediscovering the natural landscape of the municipality. If you are travelling with children of different ages, you can take such varied ideas for days out into account when choosing your accommodation, without planning the same pace every day.
Regional Features and Getting Around
Istrana is one of the municipalities in the Province of Treviso crossed by the Sile and belonging to the production area of the Sile rainbow trout. At Tre Comuni, 100% buffalo milk, milked within the previous twelve hours, is processed immediately in full view of visitors. The Festa dell'Agricoltura di Istrana is also part of the local events calendar: its 41st edition took place from 13 to 16 September and from 20 to 23 September at the parish sports centre in Sala di Istrana.
For travel to the area, Istrana railway station is served by the Treviso–Vicenza line. There is also a MOM bus stop opposite the Museo di Villa Lattes. If clear and straightforward travel connections are important to you when searching for a holiday apartment, you can include these existing transport points in your personal planning. The next decision is whether you would prefer to focus on the cultural sites, the landscape along the Sile or a balanced combination of both.
