Sant'antonio between Riverside Routes and Cultural Experiences

The Ciclovia del Bacchiglione follows the riverbank between Padua and Vicenza and runs almost entirely along paved cycling routes. It is considered easy and safe and is also suitable for families with children.

Cycling Routes with Different Profiles

On the Vicenza–Montegalda–Padua cycling route, you reach Sant'Antonio di Veggiano 2.1 km after Montegalda. From Sant'Antonio di Veggiano, the same route continues for another 1.3 km to Santa Maria di Veggiano. The two distances help you compare stages and directions when planning your trip. The stage of the Cammino Veneto delle abbazie e dei santuari has a different character: from Santa Maria di Veggiano to Longare, it follows the unpaved embankment along the Bacchiglione. Stage W04 runs along Via Sant'Antonio to the intersection with Via Vallarega and SP98.

Riverbank, Park and Landscape

Parco San Daniele is located in the surroundings of Sant'Antonio. Monte della Madonna and Monte Venda, which are classified as mountains, as well as Arco Vallaresso, a natural arch, are also located in this area. Together with the embankment along the Bacchiglione, they provide various starting points for days outdoors: paved cycling routes, an unpaved embankment, a park and striking landscape destinations appeal to different preferences within a travel group.

Festivals and River History

In Veggiano, the Festa del Gnocco reached its 15th edition in 2026. The Festa di Sant'Antonio is traditionally celebrated in Veggiano on 13 June; the parish festival was moved to this date in the early 1970s. The Museo del Fiume Bacchiglione focuses on cultural history. It displays state-owned archaeological finds recovered from the riverbed, including two oak dugout canoes. The Bacchiglione cycling route also recommends a stop at San Martino della Vaneza Castle and its Archaeological Museum of the Bacchiglione River. The Festa di Sant'Antonio and the finds from the riverbed establish two different cultural focal points in Veggiano, between festival tradition and river discoveries.

Palaces, Museums and Mountains in the Surrounding Area

Destinations in the surroundings of Sant'antonio include Villa Emo Capodilista and Villa Montruglio, both palaces. Villa dei Vescovi is a museum. The Museo Civico - Villa Comunale Roberto Bassi Rathgeb is also a museum. These buildings and collections expand the scope of excursions beyond simply enjoying activities along the river. The Caminada de San Martin was organised as a running event in the FIASP calendar with the support of the Municipality of Veggiano. This also makes it possible to plan a stay around a running event.
