After five kilometres, the Via dei 4 Borghi reaches Podere Calcinari and enters the Alto Merse Nature Reserve there. The five kilometres to Podere Calcinari provide a clear framework for planning one section of the route; the transition into the Alto Merse Nature Reserve marks the next point of orientation.
