Caniparola: Architectural history and sacred sites

On the access road to Caniparola, a district of Fosdinovo, Villa Malaspina was built by the Malaspina marquises at the beginning of the 18th century on fortified earlier structures. The villa is privately owned and cannot be visited. The connection between the villa and the fortified earlier structures points to different historical construction phases, but remains something to be viewed from the outside.

L'Arco di Caniparola is among the oldest monuments in the district and is considered one of its oldest monuments. The Cappella della Madonna della Seggiola, built in the 16th century, belonged to L'Arco di Caniparola. Caniparola is also home to both the Chiesa Vecchia and the Chiesa Nuova di Sant'Antonio da Padova. Sant'Antonio da Padova is the patron saint of the district. The period covered therefore ranges from the chapel built in the 16th century to Villa Malaspina from the early 18th century.

At the Parco della Resistenza in Caniparola, the fallen were commemorated with a wreath-laying ceremony and the parish priest's blessing.

Vermentino and regional culinary experiences

At the wineries of Fosdinovo, you can taste the fresh and fragrant Vermentino dei Colli di Luni. During a walk with guides from AlterEco and Legambiente, the route led to Frantoio e Mulino Moro, including a tasting of the products made there. The programme also included a visit to the Terenzuola vineyard, with a tasting of Vermentini (Colli di Luni DOC) from Fosdinovo.
