Viticcio is a small village on a more sheltered, unspoilt stretch of coast. The beach area comprises five small free-access beaches located directly by the small village. The Golfo di Viticcio is enclosed by the Enfola peninsula and surrounded by Mediterranean maquis. The village, gulf and maquis give the small locality a clearly defined landscape setting.

Beaches and coastal paths in the village

The trail 249 runs parallel to the coast along the Percorso del Viticcio. Below the houses on the Percorso lies the tiny Spiaggia di Ghiaia of the same name. In Viticcio, three paths also lead down to the sea. The Spiaggia delle Alghe can be reached via a path that begins to the right of Ristorante Da Giacomino.

Views of Enfola and distant islands

From Viticcio, there are views of Cape Enfola, Monte Capanne and the Golfo di Viticcio. The Enfola route offers views of the Golfo del Viticcio. The Enfola route shifts the view from the village to the gulf, while clear days open up the horizon as far as Capraia and Corsica. On particularly clear days, the island of Capraia and Corsica can also be seen in the distance from Viticcio.

Snorkelling and scuba diving

The gravelly seabeds off the beaches of Enfola and Viticcio are suitable for snorkelling and scuba diving. The Secca del Viticcio dive site lies in the Gulf of Enfola; its summit is at a depth of 28 metres. This depth must be taken into account when planning a dive, as the dive is recommended for advanced divers because of it. Octopuses and moray eels live in the crevices of the Secca del Viticcio. The crevices of the Secca complement exploration of the coastal area by kayak, pedal boat or boat with a view beneath the water's surface.

Exploring the coastal area by boat

The continuous coastal area of Enfola and Viticcio can be explored by kayak, pedal boat and boat. In addition, a boat excursion in the Golfo di Viticcio can be booked by reservation for a maximum of eight people aboard the Luna III.

Connection with Portoferraio

Bus route 7 provides the connection with Portoferraio. It runs from Portoferraio via Le Ghiaie, Padullela, Capobianco and Sottobomba to Viticcio. From there, the route continues to Bivio Ablereto and then back to Portoferraio. The route operates as a summer service from 11 June to 14 September. This period is directly relevant for travelling to Viticcio by bus. Anyone using the bus route for the outward journey can plan the return journey to Portoferraio along the same route.

Former residents of Viticcio

Viticcio was formerly inhabited by fishermen and farmers. The former presence of fishermen and farmers adds a historical note alongside the village's paths and water activities.
