Holiday apartment in Fasciano: Wine, Landscape and Culture
Fasciano Between Vineyards and Ridges
Fasciano is a small village between the hills of Cortona and Montepulciano. Cantine Faralli, a family-run winery, is located in Località Fasciano. Anyone considering a holiday apartment in Fasciano will find a combination of wine, rural landscapes, and cultural discoveries here. The special character of the village arises from the interplay of ridges, trails, farming traditions, and historical connections.
Wine, Cellars, and Local Specialties
Cantine Faralli offers a tour of the vineyards and cellar, followed by a wine tasting and local culinary specialties. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 to 330 metres above sea level and face north and northwest. This makes winegrowing tangible as part of the landscape: the altitude and orientation remain more than abstract details—they are part of Fasciano’s actual setting.
For five generations, the Faralli family farmed the Poggio Martino Maggiore estate in Località Fasciano as tenant farmers and acquired it in the 1950s. In 2002, Andrea and Juri Faralli expanded the business by planting new vineyards and carrying out extensive innovative changes to the cellar. Cantine Faralli also produces extra virgin olive oil by cold-pressing hand-picked olives.
The Merlot vineyards of Cantine Faralli are harvested entirely by hand, with more than one pass through each vineyard and a green harvest in July.
Holiday Apartment in Fasciano: Experience the Landscape Consciously
Fasciano is part of an extraordinary southern ridge system extending from Poggio through Fasciano to Gabbiano Vecchio, characterized by panoramic openings and visual connections between valley plains and hills. The Fasciano–Gabbiano Vecchio landscape system lies on hill ridges overlooking the Chianacce reclamation area.
A dense network of municipal, local, and agricultural trails connects the settlements on the ridges around Fasciano. The trails offer significant vistas of the elements that shape the landscape, as well as of the settlements of Cortona on the horizon. Those who wish to make their stay active can focus on the ridges and their visual connections; those who prefer a quieter pace can turn their attention to the surrounding landscapes and the settlements on the horizon.
Culture and Historical Traces
The Statute of Cortona from 1325 decreed the construction of three new boats for the ports of Fasciano, Foiano, and Creti.
