Holiday apartment in Faedo amid forests, trails and vineyards

Faedo combines a distinctive landscape with traces of its history and a strong wine culture. On the left bank of the Adige, where Faedo is located, clearings alternate with pine, fir, larch and beech forests. This combination gives the surroundings their special character: During a stay in a holiday apartment in Faedo, you can choose between forest trails, historic destinations and insights into winegrowing, depending on your plans for the day. The wines from the vineyards on the slopes of Faedo can be tasted and purchased in the village.

Even the approach to the historic centre leads past a remarkable building. The Gothic-Romanesque Chiesetta di Sant’Agata marks the entrance to Faedo’s historic centre. As part of the Christmas tradition, Faedo is also home to the largest nativity scene in Trentino.

Historic sites and trails around Faedo

One of the notable historical references is Castel Monreale, also known as Konigsberg. It was rebuilt in 1243 on the ridge between Faedo and San Michele all'Adige. Castello di Monreale is located just north of Faedo on a panoramic ridge.

Those interested in the connection between the landscape and mining history will find a former mining area along the Sentiero Minerario Masen-Faedo. Silver was once mined there; today, the area is covered by dense forest. The Sentiero Minerario Masen-Faedo passes several ancient, horizontally extending mine tunnels known as “Canope”. This allows hikers to connect a specific historical theme with the area’s present-day forest landscape.

Another trail leads from Faedo via Zise to Roccolo del Sauch. After the Passo della Croccola, the Faedo–Zise–Roccolo del Sauch hiking trail reaches the village of Zise along the western slope of Monte Pincaldo. This trail also recommends a short detour to the Roccolo del Sauch Ornithological Observatory. When planning your route, different sections can therefore focus on different aspects: orientation around places and terrain, nature observation or exploring historical traces.

The access trail to the Ferrata di Cadino starts in Cadino, behind the small chapel near Garnì La Ferrata.

A wine experience as a separate part of your trip

The CANTINA EXPERIENCE at Azienda Agricola Fontana Graziano & C. S.S. includes a visit to the wine cellar and barrel cellar, with explanations of wine production and the Metodo classico. It also includes a tasting of Trento DOC Riserva as well as Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Nero. If you rent a holiday apartment in Faedo, this wine-focused experience can be deliberately planned as part of your stay alongside hikes, local history and nature experiences.

For further orientation, you can also discover these destinations: Tremalzo, Sfruz, Penia Di Canazei, Stava, Ledro, Terres, Baselga di Piné and Dermulo.
