Holiday apartment in Terres: Churches, Trails and Le Glare
Terres lies among orchards and forests. This combination helps you plan varied days between culture, activity and shared family time.
Churches and Traces of History
The Chiesa di San Giorgio is the oldest church in Terres; its original structure dates from after 1150. Its origins anchor the village in a long architectural history and provide a tangible cultural focus for your stay.
Inside the Chiesa di San Giorgio, fragmentary battle scenes preserve the art of the late 13th or early 14th century. The scenes are attributed to the so-called Maestro di Ceniga and give the church a distinctive art-historical dimension.
A fresco depicting Saint George and the princess was removed from the Chiesa di San Giorgio in 1926. Today it is kept at Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento. Thus, the history of this individual work of art extends beyond Terres.
The Chiesa dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo in Terres has been documented since 1537 and probably dates from the 13th or 14th century.
After the fire of 16 August 1802, the present-day Chiesa dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo was built next to the older San Giorgio chapel. Construction began in 1828 and ended in 1830.
Trails through Landscape and Water
The “Da Flavon-Terres al Lago – Val di Tovel” route starts in Flavon or Terres and leads to Lago di Tovel. For your planning, this information provides two possible starting points and connects the local landscape with a destination in Val di Tovel.
On this route, a safe, convenient and fast cycling and pedestrian gallery is used as a connection to Val di Tovel. Depending on whether you prefer to travel on foot or by bicycle, the gallery can be used.
The route via the gallery from Terres leads to the Glare, a scree slope with a lunar-like appearance. It was formed by an ancient landslide that broke away from Monte Corno several centuries ago. Here, the character of the landscape is based on a clearly discernible geological history.
The large scree slope of Le Glare can become hot in summer. For this reason, it is recommended not to walk across it during the hottest hours of the day. This advice is particularly important when planning an active day for groups of different ages.
The Sentiero Margherita – also known as “Il Lez” – runs level along the more than 160-year-old Lez irrigation canal. The canal irrigated the fields of Terres, Flavon and Cunevo and diverted water from the Tresenica stream in Val di Tovel.
A Destination for Different Kinds of Holiday Days
Parco giochi Terres is a woodland playground with attractive wooden houses in the trees, slides and swings. For families, this specific place adds a different day-out idea to their plans than the churches or trails through the landscape. This allows you to consider cultural discoveries, activity and time outdoors together when choosing your accommodation in Terres.
