Daiano combines a distinctive location with nature trails, church art and a strong speck tradition. The village lies on the road from Cavalese to Passo Lavazé. From Daiano, nature trails lead out with views of the Lagorai range, while Daiano has the most hours of sunshine in Val di Fiemme. This makes it particularly easy to choose a holiday apartment in Daiano according to your own interests: between walks, historical features and regional cuisine.

Church art and historic buildings in Daiano

The parish church of San Tomaso in Daiano was consecrated on 28 November 1193. Gothic and Baroque styles come together in the Church of San Tommaso. It contains frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries, including a reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. The north façade also features a large 16th-century fresco of Saint Christopher. The onion-shaped bell tower of the Gothic Church of San Tommaso was built in 1761.

You can also encounter tangible traces of the village’s history outside the church. Sacred frescoes can be seen on the oldest houses in Daiano, while monolithic fountains decorate the streets. Casa Romana is also known as “Castello” and is an imposing Gothic-style building. The Ex Colonia Pavese provides a different architectural accent: built in the 1930s, the building was constructed in the Rationalist style as a sanatorium for respiratory diseases and was later used during the Second World War as a factory for military optical instruments.

Walking routes, green spaces and mountain activities

The “L’incanto dei prati e dei boschi di località Ganzaie” walking route leads above Daiano through the higher parts of the village, through a beautiful larch forest and to extensive green spaces. The route includes a picnic area with a fountain, table and large lawn. This allows you to combine time in nature with a deliberate break without losing sight of the character of the village.

Daiano can be reached from Cavalese by public transport. For broader mountain experiences, the Personal Mountain Guide organises trekking, hut tours, via ferrata routes, climbing courses, canyoning, snowshoe hikes, ski mountaineering, ice climbing, as well as classic mountaineering on glaciers and in the high mountains. The different activities and types of routes help you determine the right focus for your travel plans.

Speck and traditional cuisine

Daiano is a destination for gastronomic tourism because of its speck production. Maso dello Speck is an agriturismo offering traditional cuisine. The speck produced there is slowly matured for 10 to 12 months. Those who value regional specialities and historical impressions when choosing accommodation will therefore find two clearly identifiable themes for their trip in Daiano: culinary discoveries and local culture.
