Holiday apartment in Scafa between nature and coast

Scafa itself and the surrounding area combine natural parkland, views of the Parco dei Nebrodi and the Mediterranean, nearby beaches and traces of cultural history. The nature-related sights are located in the Parco Suburbano and around Scafa Alta; along the coast there are beaches, while palmenti, palaces and the Festa add cultural highlights. The range extends from Mediterranean maquis to palmenti and traditional feast days.

Parkland and views

The Parco Suburbano di Scafa is an approximately 4-hectare park shaped by its natural features, with a furnished area in the Contrada of the same name. The park is situated in a panoramic position on the slope above the port of Contrada Bagnoli and borders the SS 113. Dense vegetation typical of the Mediterranean maquis grows there. In the park, the hillside location, connection to the port and characteristic maquis combine to create a cohesive landscape in the Contrada Scafa above the port of Contrada Bagnoli.

From Scafa Alta, there is a view of the Parco dei Nebrodi and the Mediterranean. There are no architectural barriers at Scafa Alta. The Parco Suburbano di Scafa was closed for maintenance work.

Culture between palmenti and feast days

Palmenti dating from the 12th century BC, carved into the rock, were discovered in the Contrada Scafa di Capo d’Orlando. They were used to press grapes and ferment the must. The palaces Palazzo Milio - Perlongo, Palazzo Piccolo, Palazzo Petrelli and Palazzo Musarra are also located in the surrounding area of Scafa.

The Festa di Maria SS. delle Grazie in Scafa traditionally takes place on the last weekend of July. During the 2026 procession, the route led through the Contrade Scafa and Marcaudo to the Borgo di San Gregorio. Historical evidence and living religious traditions are therefore just as much a part of the local character as the park and coast.

Beaches for different coastal experiences

The Spiaggia di Testa di Monaco, Spiaggia di San Gregorio, Spiaggia Ponte Naso and Spiaggia di Capo d'Orlando are located in the surrounding area of Scafa. The Spiaggia di Testa di Monaco is located at Contrada Scafa 261; its clear water and rocky seabed give this beach its distinctive character.

For planning your days, the themes in Scafa can be clearly separated. The park and the views represent nature-focused days, while the beaches offer a coastal focus; palmenti, palaces and the Festa provide scope for cultural discoveries. The geographical references range from Scafa Alta and the park to the surrounding area with its beaches and palaces.
