Bosco di Mangalaviti is a natural area in the municipality of Longi, within Parco dei Nebrodi. It lies at an elevation of between 1,200 and 1,500 metres above sea level and can be reached from Longi via the road to Portella Gazzana. The so-called “Stretta” di Longi offers a completely different landscape impression: The valley, crossed by rapids and waterfalls, is defined by two mountains that appear almost to meet.

At the beginning of Bosco di Mangalaviti lies Case Mangalaviti, an ancient estate and rural centre. The Sentiero Didattico, which is used for environmental education activities, is located at the estate.

Holiday apartment in Longi between the Middle Ages and church art

One of the defining cultural sites is Il Castello di Longi, which dates back to the Middle Ages. The Castello cannot currently be entered; nevertheless, its history remains a distinctive part of the townscape. The Chiesa di Maria Santissima Annunziata is likewise closely connected with the history of Longi. It was built in 1857 in Piazza Generale Moriondo after the former church collapsed in the landslide of 1851.

Inside the Chiesa di Maria Santissima Annunziata is a marble statue of the Madonna Annunziata with gold-coloured painted details. It was created by the brothers Antonino and Giacomo Gagini. Longi’s Chiesa Madre also has a bell tower from the 15th century and an organ from the 17th century. Those interested in sacred art and the town’s long-established history will find several specific points of connection here for their own exploration.

Adventure park and regional tradition

The Nebrodi Adventure Park is located in Bosco Soprano in Contrada Pado, about 4 km from the centre of Longi. It offers children, teenagers and adults elevated platforms, bridges and treetop courses with varying levels of difficulty. This makes it possible to plan active days with different age groups without everyone having to choose the same challenge.

A culinary and regional tradition is the Sagra del Suino Nero dei Nebrodi, which is held in Longi every year in January.
