Holiday apartment in Villa Gorizia – olive groves, culture and sports
Villa Gorizia is part of an area with extensive olive-growing areas and a dispersed settlement structure. The surroundings therefore combine open agricultural land and individual localities with the area's other cultural, natural and sporting features.
Villa Gorizia between Sassari and Porto Torres
Villa Gorizia is one of the settlements in the Sassari area along the corridor towards Porto Torres. The locality connects the olive-growing landscape with the Sassari area and the route towards Porto Torres. The connection to Sassari and the orientation towards Porto Torres are therefore just as much part of the geographical setting as the dispersed settlement structure.
Monte d'Accoddi and the Red Temple
The Monte d'Accoddi sanctuary near Sassari is a prehistoric site with an altar-like structure in the form of a truncated pyramid. The site also includes the remains of huts and several artefacts believed to have probably served a symbolic or ritual function. The first altar at Monte d'Accoddi was built around 3000 BC. It consisted of a square terrace. This terrace is known as the “Tempio Rosso” or “Red Temple” because its surface was plastered and painted with red ochre. The structure, terrace and surface are therefore all part of the prehistoric traces that define the site archaeologically.
Stagno e Ginepreto di Platamona
The Stagno e Ginepreto di Platamona area is located in the immediate vicinity of Villa Gorizia. Its habitats include wetlands, open bodies of water, coniferous forests and coastal lagoons. Also in the immediate vicinity of Villa Gorizia, Platamona offers opportunities for windsurfing and windsurfing activities when the wind is blowing. The landscape around Platamona therefore differs from the extensive olive-growing areas around Villa Gorizia. There, water, forests and coastal lagoons complement the open spaces with a distinctly different natural environment.
Sports offered in Villa Gorizia
The sports offered by the Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Villa Gorizia include football, five-a-side football and tennis. The club's activities therefore cover two forms of football as well as tennis.
Summer tournament and winter championship
Villa Gorizia worked with the UISP committee of Sassari on a two-month summer seven-a-side football tournament with 13 teams. The Villa Gorizia facility also hosted a winter football championship with eight teams, which took place from October to May. With 13 and eight teams respectively, the two competitions also differed in size. Their timeframes likewise placed different emphases: one format lasted two months, while the other extended from October to May.
Road safety and sports register
