Nuraghe, Church and Local History

The complex Nuraghe Nanni Arrù is located in the Sant’Isidoro district. It was used between the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. Nanni Arrù is a four-lobed fortified complex with a central keep and four towers. Its clear, unusual structure makes the nuraghe a particularly tangible way to access the history of the place.

The Church of Sant'Isidoro is dedicated to Saint Isidore, who is regarded as the patron saint of farm workers and fields. In Borgo Sant’Isidoro, a mural depicts features that help define the identity of the place. Festivals and Living Traditions

The Feast of Madonna del Carmelo in Sant’Isidoro is renewed every year and is regarded as a particularly cherished part of local traditions. It shows the importance that community-based celebrations have in the town. The Madonna del Carmelo celebration and the Infiorata emphasize different aspects: the former is renewed annually, while the latter combines a flower carpet with the Rosary, Mass and a procession.

For the Infiorata del Corpus Domini, a 54-metre-long flower carpet was created in the square in front of the church in Sant’Isidoro. Nature Themes for Your Travel Planning

Sette Fratelli Park covers 10,000 hectares of forest in a mountain complex with seven peaks approximately 1,000 metres high. This places a large-scale natural area with woodland and distinctive mountain elevations at the thematic centre of active or landscape-oriented holiday days.

The Molentargius-Saline wetland covers 1,600 hectares and serves various waterbirds, including greater flamingos, as a resting and breeding area. The surface areas also differ: 10,000 hectares of forest compared with 1,600 hectares of wetland. Anyone wishing to experience nature observation differently from forest and mountain landscapes will find an independent theme here, centred on birdlife and wetlands. The two nature themes have different focuses: Sette Fratelli represents forest and mountain peaks, while Molentargius-Saline represents wetlands and waterbirds. This makes it possible to consider nature observation and landscape impressions separately.

Regional Flavours and Special Routes

The “patata de flumini de Quatucciu” has traditionally been cultivated by farmers for generations. In Sant'Isidoro, the potato tradition brings together agricultural work, soil and flavour. The characteristics of Sant'Isidoro’s soils give it a unique flavour. The food product therefore represents a regional aspect of the destination that can be discovered independently of the sights.

For 25 January 2025, the “In marcia per la pace” initiative was planned as a walking route from Orto Giardino Mariposa de Cardu in Quartucciu to Borgo Sant’Isidoro via old connecting paths.
