San Priamo combines archaeological remains with trails through the valley and nearby beaches. The main attractions are the Sanctuary of San Priamo, the Tomba dei giganti Su Presoni and a variety of opportunities for exploring on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in San Priamo, you will find a place where culture, landscape and regional experiences come together.

A sanctuary with a long history

The Sanctuary of San Priamo is located near the village of San Priamo on the mountain of the same name and is easily accessible from the SS 125 state road. Human use of the sanctuary site has been documented since the Early Neolithic, from 4300 to 4000 BC, through the presence of a domus de janas. The spring at the sanctuary is traditionally believed to have miraculous powers.

Su Presoni and the archaeological trails

The Tomba dei giganti Su Presoni is a collective tomb of the “a filari” type, which chronologically follows older dolmen-like forms. Particularly striking are its over-15-metre-long, partially collapsed corridor and its well-preserved façade with the architrave entrance. The tomb is also the endpoint of trail 421 and the starting point of the 421A branch trail.

The Fassoni–Su Presoni hiking trail runs from the former SS 125 road in the Fassoni area to the Tomba dei giganti Su Presoni. In addition, the Sentieri Primitivi project is the first section of a larger project to enhance the San Priamo valley. It is intended to connect and make accessible the area’s numerous archaeological monuments through a network of trails.

Exploring the valley

The restored trail in the San Priamo valley area can be used on foot, by bicycle and on horseback. A section approximately 400 metres long is equipped for use by blind people. This makes it possible to combine different forms of travel and exploration, while the valley’s archaeological monuments provide the cultural focus.
