A holiday apartment in Neive takes you to a landscape whose special features can be explored through wine, museum and cultural history, as well as architectural heritage. Bricco di Neive is a Barbaresco MGA in the municipality of Neive; at the same time, the Museo Casa della Donna Selvatica, the Cappella S. Sebastiano, the Palazzo dei Conti Cocito and the San Michele Arciconfraternita tell of different layers of the town’s history. This creates a varied setting for families and other travellers: a tasting can be followed by a cultural visit, while the next discovery opens up another perspective on Neive.
Holiday apartment in Neive among vineyards and tastings
The connection with wine is particularly vivid at Bricco di Neive. Dante Rivetti’s vineyards are located next to the winery, are the company’s oldest vineyards and have been tended by hand by the Rivetti family for more than four generations. Azienda Agricola Dante Rivetti is located at Località Bricco di Neive 12 in Neive and has vineyards. Visitors can take part in winery tours and wine tastings there, including vertical tastings of older vintages of Barbera d’Alba and Barbaresco.
Wine experiences offering insights into origin and production
At Dante Rivetti, the tastings also include a visit to the cellar and a platter of cold cuts and cheese. La Casetta del Castello also offers tours where you can learn about the historic cellars, the wines and the history of Castello di Neive. The tours include a tasting of the wines produced by the winery, accompanied by explanations of the vineyards of origin and the production techniques.
Culture between grappa history and arte-selvatica
The Museo Casa della Donna Selvatica documents the production of the grappa known as “La Grappa della Donna Selvatica” by Lidia and Romano Levi over more than sixty years. The museum also presents Lidia Levi’s herbal compositions and Romano Levi’s hand-drawn poetic labels as “arte-selvatica”. Admission tickets for the Museo Casa della Donna Selvatica are available from the municipal tourist office.
Historic buildings in the municipality of Neive
The San Michele Arciconfraternita was built in the second half of the 18th century by the architect Antonio Borgese and houses a valuable Renaissance-style organ. The Cappella S. Sebastiano has stood in the municipality of Neive since the 15th century; it was completely rebuilt in the 18th century. It is a typical example of a rural chapel dedicated to Saint Sebastian. The Palazzo dei Conti Cocito, also located in the municipality, was originally built as a fortified house in the 15th century and was remodelled during the Baroque period. Individual guided tours of the Torre dell’Orologio are available by prior appointment.
Choosing a holiday apartment in Neive can be tailored to the pace of holiday you want: wine tastings and cellar visits create different focal points from museums, religious buildings or a guided tower tour. If you want to combine different interests within the family, the combination of wine and cultural experiences provides a clear basis for planning your own daily itinerary.
