Acceglio combines hiking routes, mountain landscapes and regional culture. In Acceglio and the Alta Valle Maira, the attractions range from trails and peaks to sacred art, historic sites and traditional forms of housing.

Culture between an oratory and an old barn

The Museo di Arte Sacra dell'Alta Valle Maira is located in the Oratorio della Confraternita dell'Annunziata in Acceglio. Since summer 2012, the museum has housed an exhibition featuring works by Matteo Olivero. This gives culture enthusiasts a specific venue for sacred art in Acceglio, with an exhibition focus placed within a defined historical period.

La Misoun d'en Bot reconstructs a traditional dwelling in the Alta Valle Maira from past centuries. The presentation includes a kitchen, bedroom, stable and hayloft. In addition, La Misoun d'en Bot contains around 1,500 objects arranged in an old two-storey barn. The layout combines living spaces and areas shaped by agricultural use within the same reconstruction.

Hiking trails with various starting points

The Sentiero Dino Icardi and the Anello Rocca Castello-Provenzale are hiking routes in Acceglio. La scurcio is an easy trail: it leads uphill from Acceglio along the Rio Unerzio. The hiking options therefore include both two specifically named routes and a trail classified as easy.

A dense network of hiking trails connects the French border with the Valle Maira. The landscape therefore extends beyond individual trails and includes both the border area and the valley.

Mountains and the route to the lakes

Several prominent mountain destinations are located around Acceglio: Monte Oronaye is a mountain in the area, while Monte Vanclava, Cima delle Manse and Tête des Blaves are considered peaks in the vicinity of Acceglio. The four names represent different mountain destinations around the town.

The route to the Laghi Visaisa e Apsoi begins near the car park at the Sorgenti del Maira. This starting point adds a destination involving lakes to the hiking routes around Acceglio. On the Anello Chiappera–Cascate di Stroppia circular route, unpaved and paved sections alternate. The route therefore includes two different types of surface.

Historic sites and an event in May

In the wider regional surroundings of Acceglio are Fort de Tournoux, a fort; Ponte del Diavolo, a historic site; and the Chiesa parrocchiale, a church. These three different types of sites and structures complement Acceglio's cultural offerings with regional destinations. The Sagra del Narciso in Borgo Villa takes place on the last Sunday in May.
