Holiday apartment in Colmurano – Art, history and enjoyment
Holiday apartment in Colmurano amid hills, history and enjoyment
Colmurano is situated on a hill on the left side of the Fiastra River valley. From here, you can enjoy views of the Sibillini Mountains, inviting you to go on excursions. In the hilly countryside, medieval local history, street art and regional specialties come together.
Churches, gate and medieval traces
Significant sections of Colmurano’s castle walls from the 14th and 15th centuries have been preserved. The almost completely preserved Porta ogivale di San Rocco dates from before 1200 and is therefore earlier than the castle walls. The Church of SS. Annunziata has a façade enriched with ceramics. It also contains a fresco of the Nativity, created by Giovanni Andrea De Magistris in 1560.
The parish church of San Donato preserves reliquaries containing a small cross and a Holy Thorn. The Fonte Allungo preserves original medieval spring structures and a fresco of the Madonna and Child. The Church della Loggia is also known as San Rocco. It formerly served as accommodation for pilgrims.
Artistrada and street art in the historic center
Artistrada is a street art festival organized by the Pro Loco of Colmurano. During Artistrada, the lanes, gardens and small squares of the historic center become open-air stages for national and international street artists. The different performance locations are therefore spread throughout the historic center, in lanes, gardens and small squares.
Cycling tour through forests and along white roads
A cycling tour from Colmurano leads through the countryside and forests, along white roads and downhill over unpaved sections toward the border with Urbisaglia. When planning this tour, the different surfaces and the downhill route must therefore be taken into account. Preparation must thus consider not only the starting point of Colmurano, but also the forest, white roads, unpaved sections and the direction toward the border with Urbisaglia.
Beer culture and Paccucce di Colmurano
Birrificio Il Mastio in Colmurano offers beer tastings and brewery tours. For groups, combined tastings with local foods are available by reservation. The combination of beer tasting and local foods is therefore subject to group participation and a reservation.
In the traditional preparation, apples are harvested before they are fully ripe, cut into wedges and dried in the sun or in the oven. The dried apple wedges are then preserved in Vino cotto or grape must. Paccucce di Colmurano are traditionally prepared from dried apples of the Mele Rosa dei Sibillini variety and preserved in Vino cotto.
