Holiday apartment in Villa Dalegno: village center, mountain trails and history

The historic center of Villa Dalegno preserves the character of a medieval village and is clustered closely around the parish church of San Martino. The village center thus forms the historic introduction to a stay between village history and mountain landscape.

Mountain setting between meadows and coniferous forests

Villa Dalegno lies halfway up the slope between two streams on the southern slopes of Cima Bleis di Somalbosco and Monte Coleazzo. Above the village, meadows and terraced fields shape the surroundings up to the edge of extensive coniferous forests. At the same time, the village is situated on the slopes at the northern end of Valle Camonica, opposite the Adamello massif. This precise landscape structure gives the stay a clear alpine setting without allowing the character of the village to recede into the background.

The Cesulina is the former church of the Brotherhood of the Disciplini of Villa Dalegno.

Walking from Ponte di Legno to Villa Dalegno

Villa Dalegno can be reached on foot from Ponte di Legno. The approach from Ponte di Legno leads into the village, where the access route to Malga Prisigai also begins. This makes it possible to connect the two villages with additional trails in the surrounding terrain.

Trails to Malga Prisigai

When the route is free of snow, Malga Prisigai is open to the public. From there, you can continue uphill to trenches, communication trenches and positions from the First World War. The ascent begins at the end of the access route and then leads into higher terrain with traces of military history.

The old mule track to the Castel

The optional excursion to the Castel also follows an old mule track built during the First World War to a group of mountain huts. The route is therefore distinguished by the period in which it was historically created and by its destination at the mountain huts.

Sentiero no. 55 and Bocchette di Valmassa

Sentiero no. 55 leads from Villa Dalegno to Bocchette di Valmassa. The Bocchette di Valmassa area contains one of the best-preserved trenches from the First World War. Sentiero no. 55 and the old mule track to the Castel thus lead to different mountain destinations, while both routes are connected with the history of the First World War.

Dairy and local character

Villa Dalegno still has a dairy. Alongside the historic trails and churches, an ongoing activity in the village is therefore also part of its local character.
