Holiday apartment in Lozio: Trails, history and local specialties

Lozio combines nature trails, distinctive landscapes and traces of history. The Trecciolino is a forest path that runs through the Lat area and leads to the former Puit quarry. The canal was built at the end of the 1950s and crosses large parts of the municipal area, from Villa through Sommaprada to Laveno. Cave and castle between Concarena and the valleys

Al Cudinì is a limestone cave in Concarena, at the foot of Contramagna. In the past, farmers used the cave as a place of shelter and overnight accommodation. The remains of the Nobili castle stand on a steep ridge between the two valleys: Doss to the east and Re to the west. At the cave, the former use by farmers takes center stage, while at the castle remains, the location on the steep ridge is the defining feature. Church, frescoes and the Put del Fer bridge

The parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo in Villa dates back to a small church that already existed in the 14th century. Its most significant rebuilding took place between 1602 and 1604. The parish church also features frescoes by Antonio Guadagnini from 1884 to 1894. This building therefore brings together an early church structure, a clearly dated restoration and late 19th-century painting. The church in Villa visibly carries its history forward through both its ancient origins and its rebuilding and frescoes.

The remains of the Put del Fer bridge are located after the hamlet of Villa, in the Località Segheria. Until the 1960s, the bridge was also passable by small carts. Its horseshoe shape gave it the name Put del Fer. The name is explained by the shape, while the former passage of carts points to the historic function of the structure.
