Rezzoaglio is part of the Parco dell’Aveto and is crossed by the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, which runs through Rezzoaglio and its hamlets. The area therefore combines trails and lakes with museums, historic buildings and regional products.

What a holiday apartment in Rezzoaglio allows you to experience

The Anello del Monte Ramaceto circular trail leads from Ventarola through the Liciorno beech forest and over Monte Ramaceto back to Ventarola. At first, the trail follows the gently flowing Rio Liciorno, then climbs through the Liciorno beech forest to the Ramaceto ridge. Ventarola itself is an old, well-preserved rural settlement ensemble. The route and settlement therefore combine the natural environment and rural history in one specific excursion destination.

Near Lago delle Lame, trails begin that lead into the Parco dell’Aveto. Lago delle Lame is one of the few lakes of glacial origin in Liguria. The ruins of the former S. Bartolomeo delle Lame hospice are also located nearby. The lake therefore represents not only a geologically distinctive landscape, but also a place where trails and historic traces meet within a close regional setting.

Local knowledge of nature and culture

The Centro Visite di Rezzoaglio displays a subfossil trunk of a silver fir, around 4,000 years old, which was recovered at the nearby Mogge di Ertola site. The Museo del Bosco is a permanent exhibition about the park’s forests, their ancient and more recent history, and their future. The exhibits include artefacts, finds, memorabilia and forestry tools.

The Centro Visite di Rezzoaglio also includes a “night corridor” where you can hear the calls of woodland animals and glimpse their outlines. Another room dedicated to the wolf is set up as a satellite exhibition of the Museo del Lupo di Rondanina in the Parco dell’Antola. The Chiesa di San Michele also adds a historic accent: its exposed stone bell tower dates from 1769, with the exception of the upper structure of the bell tower. Access to the Chiesa di San Michele is accessible to people with disabilities, and admission is free.

The ancient mill of Molini dates from the 17th century and houses an interesting collection of millers’ tools and objects from peasant culture. It has been disused since at least the 1960s. Above Megòia, the so-called “Castello” consists of the ruins of a fortified complex that may date from the second half of the 13th century. Both places preserve different traces of the region’s past: here, work with grain and peasant implements; there, the ruins of a former fortification.

Regional specialities from the Aveto Valley

Food culture also contributes to Rezzoaglio’s distinctive character. The Cabannese potato takes its name from the hamlet of Capanne di Rezzoaglio in the upper Val d’Aveto, where its cultivation is believed to have begun. At the Caseificio Val d’Aveto in Rezzoaglio Inferiore, fresh cheese made from whole milk with minimal processing is produced according to the tradition of Ligurian farmers. For you, this regional connection can offer another perspective on the area when you want to complement experiences of nature and culture with local food.

The Centro Visite di Rezzoaglio has seasonal opening hours: Saturdays and Sundays in June, September and October; Fridays to Sundays in July; and daily except Wednesdays in August, in each case from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 17:00. When choosing your holiday apartment in Rezzoaglio, you can make your preferred combination of woodland trails, lake, exhibitions, architectural history and regional specialities the starting point for your planning. The different themes allow you to organise active and more relaxing days according to your interests.

Other places you can discover when planning your trip: Stibiveri, Mortola, Torrazza, Valbrevenna, Bargagli, Pedemonte, Campomorone and Santo Stefano D'aveto.
