Linaro combines a long ecclesiastical history with paths through the first hills and a variety of discoveries amid landscapes, waterways and regional nature. Anyone planning a trip to Linaro can choose between cultural insights, circular walks and cycling routes. When looking for a suitable holiday apartment, the desired combination of peaceful landscape experiences, historical traces and excursions towards Imola is particularly relevant.

San Pietro Apostolo and the History of Linaro

An important landmark in the village is the present-day church of San Pietro Apostolo. It was solemnly consecrated on 29 September 1928 and has the floor plan of a Latin cross. The parish has existed since at least the 15th century. At the same time, tradition holds that the church dedicated to the Apostle Peter may date back to the Lombard period. This historical depth makes San Pietro Apostolo a special destination for anyone who wants to get to know Linaro not only through its landscape, but also through its religious and local history.

The parish house contains a Madonna del Rosario that previously crowned the church’s dome for a long time. Further historical traces can be found at the ruins of Villa Nardozzi, which are visible from the road, as well as at Casa Rigolino. There, on 1 May 1922, a demonstration marking International Workers’ Day was accompanied by gunshots. Such places provide different historical points of connection during a stay in Linaro, without requiring you to commit to a single sightseeing itinerary.

Circular Walks through the First Hills

The circular walk Le basse colline di Linaro leads through the first hills amid agriculturally cultivated greenery. It begins and ends at the Linaro cemetery and passes Villa Torano. One specific limitation is also important for planning your day: the clay surface of this route is not recommended in heavy rain.

Another perspective is offered by the route Poggiolo e Morine. It runs along a ridge between the Rio dei Palazzi and the upper course of the Rio delle Morine. Along the way, there are views of vineyards, woodland in the first hills and the nearby city of Imola. The route passes the Linaro cemetery and then continues to the SP Montanara. The two routes described therefore differ primarily in their landscapes and landmarks: here, agriculturally shaped hills and Villa Torano are the focus; there, ridges, waterways and views of Imola take centre stage.

Waterways, Plants and a View of the Sky

There are also interesting points of interest in the surrounding area for a cycling tour. The Imola–Casa del Fiume route follows the Santerno cycle and walking path along the Canale dei Mulini. The two mills Paroli and Linaro are mentioned along the route; the Linaro mill is one of them. The Canale dei Mulini therefore provides its own thematic gateway to the region, while the paths in the hills are shaped more strongly by vineyards, woodland and ridgelines.

The Vivaio Zerina is one of three regional tree nurseries and supports the preservation of plant biodiversity. For 2026, a public programme with workshops, excursions, sensory walks and family days was planned at the Vivaio Forestale Zerina in Imola for the period from May to October. Also planned for 2026 was the Agripedalata, a cycling excursion along the Canale dei Mulini: starting at the Fiera agricola del Santerno, with a visit to the canal embankment in Codrignano, finishing at the Vivaio di Linaro and refreshments with local products along the route.

In the area around Linaro, a circular walk leads towards the Osservatorio Astronomico. There is a screening room, an exhibition room and a dome measuring 4.5 metres in diameter, which houses the main telescope. For a stay with varied daily rhythms, this connection between landscape, plant life, cycling routes and astronomy offers several possible focuses.
