Holiday apartment in Marcellina: festivals, citron and beaches

Marcellina between festival traditions and citron

Marcellina combines religious festival traditions, the distinctive culture of citron and a variety of destinations in the surrounding area. In the town, the Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù is the most important place of worship. There is also the traditional festival of the Sacro Cuore di Gesù, the summer festival in honour of San Marcellino and the Museo del Cedro. The surrounding area also includes archaeological sites, a palace, a castle and several beaches.

Festivals throughout the year

The festival calendar gives Marcellina a distinct cultural rhythm. The traditional annual festival of the Sacro Cuore di Gesù takes place on 7 June. From 29 May to 6 June, it is preceded every evening by a novena. In Marcellina, the celebration on 7 June also includes a fair in the morning. The sequence of novena, festival celebration and fair is thus concentrated within a clearly defined period at the end of May and beginning of June.

Another summer festival in Marcellina honours San Marcellino, pope and martyr. At the same time, it commemorates the arrival of the patron saint’s statue on 6 August 1949. San Marcellino thus combines a festival date with a specific reminder of the town’s history.

Experience citron and sample regional products

The Museo del Cedro offers a guided tour with a welcome tasting of typical citron products. It also offers tastings of artisanally produced citron products.

The museum thus brings together a visit to a specific cultural site and the taste of regional products.

In addition, Lido La Perla and Lido Azzurro Diamante are both beaches in the vicinity of Marcellina. The four beaches complement the cultural destinations listed above with days by the water.
