Olmi combines a distinctive hiking route with historical traces around the Contrada Olmi of Roccaspinalveti. Those looking for a holiday apartment or holiday house can choose between active days on the hiking trail and cultural discoveries here. It is worth taking a close look at the individual sites and their precise historical significance: In addition to the Church of dell’Olmi, it is above all the Albanetum site that recalls a complex past.

Hiking Trail 617 between Rocca Vecchia and Olmi

Hiking Trail 617 connects Rocca Vecchia with the Contrada Olmi of Roccaspinalveti. This gives Olmi a concrete starting point for planning a trip in which a hike shapes the day. If you enjoy being active, you can factor this connection into your considerations when choosing accommodation and tailor your stay to your preferred rhythm between physical activity and further sightseeing.

For families with children of different ages, it may be useful to adapt the day’s plans to their personal interests and the time available. The trail represents Olmi’s active side, while the historic sites offer a quieter, more contemplative way to experience the area.

Albanetum and the History of Contrada Olmi

A particularly significant historical trace leads to Villa Huneto, also known as Albaneto. Around 1050, Bruno de Albino donated a plot of land there near the Contrada Olmi in order to establish a monastery. Also around 1050, the foundation of a Benedictine monastery was decided upon in Albanetum. The site is said to have been a presumably rural church that was already dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

The Albanetum site is identified with a ridge south of the present-day Contrada Olmi. Today, it bears the names Colle San Giovanni or Sant’Ianni. A land register from 1753 recorded the ruins of a church at the site of Albanetum that had once been dedicated to San Giovanni and the Holy Trinity. This depth of history is precisely what makes the site interesting for visitors who want not only to go hiking, but also to trace historical developments through place names, religious references and surviving memories.

Church of dell’Olmi and Choosing Accommodation

The Church of dell’Olmi is located in the Contrada of the same name and is listed as a sight in Roccaspinalveti. Together with Hiking Trail 617 and the traditions surrounding Albanetum, it forms a destination where nature and culture offer different focal points. When searching for a holiday apartment in Olmi, it may therefore be decisive whether you are planning your stay primarily around a hike, historical discoveries or a combination of both interests.

The B&B Olmi is also located in the Contrada Olmi. There, an outdoor pool is available exclusively to guests.

Other Places in the Area
