Landscape and culture at the visitor centre

In the exhibition room at the Badacsonylábdihegyi Ecotourism Visitor Centre, films, images, objects and interactive presentations explore several themes: the landscape, Badacsony’s volcanic past, the lake’s wildlife and the cultural heritage of the surrounding area. The different media offer different ways to engage with the same themes—from viewing images to exploring interactive presentations. The time of year also matters when planning a visit: the centre is open to visitors in spring, summer and autumn.

Beach and activities

Herczeg Ferenc Beach has a volleyball court, sports equipment for hire and a children’s playground. There is also a gently sloping stretch of shoreline. Its distinctive geological formations are known as basalt organ pipes. Viticulture is also part of this landscape: special grape varieties are grown on the slopes of Badacsony and used to make Badacsony wine.

Culture and nature also come together at the Levendula Ház in Tihany. Its interactive exhibition explores the formation of the Tihany Peninsula and lavender cultivation; the centre also has a craft workshop and an experience garden.
