Culture and History
The remains of Hölgykő Castle are located between Városlőd and Csehbánya at the northern end of the Csiga-hegy ridge. Visible traces of an entrance and the remains of a cistern have been preserved at the site.
Városlőd is first recorded in a document dated 1270 under the form „villa Lueld“.
The castle has been documented since 1321; in the late 14th century, it was donated to the Carthusian monastery founded in Lövöld in honor of the Archangel Michael and was subsequently dismantled by the monastery’s monks.
