Nature
The Csárdahegy Nature Reserve is located on the eastern edge of the built-up area of Úrkút. The Úrkút Geological Nature Reserve covers 2.2 hectares and was placed under protection in 1953.
Culture
The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady was built by workers from the local glassworks by 1795. A glass chandelier made in this glassworks can still be seen there today. It is reported that German-language masses are held at the church every quarter.
The village museum of Úrkút displays household objects and traditional costumes that illustrate the former everyday life of the local population. Visits to the village museum can be arranged by telephone; expert guidance can be provided.
The German Nationality Self-Government of Úrkút has organised a nationality day every year since its foundation. The Úrkút Asszonykórus preserves the local Swabian song tradition.
History
The Gubicza-hegy Cross stands at the site of Úrkút’s first cemetery, designated in 1783. The remains of the tracks of the former Ajka–Csingervölgy railway line are still visible. The garden of the Zichy-Schaller kúria in Úrkút is classified as a historic garden.
Getting Around
An educational trail leads from Úrkút to Kislőd. Visitors travelling to Úrkút by public transport can use Volán bus services.
