Nature
Drávatamási is one of the settlements within the Duna–Dráva National Park, whose landscape is shaped primarily by the Danube and the Drava. Almost its entire area lies in a former floodplain.
The Drávatamási-alsó side arm belongs to a system of Drava side arms that provide important habitats for several protected aquatic species, including leánykoncér, széles durbincs and balin. Drávatamási-alsó is also one of two Drava side arms mentioned in connection with habitat rehabilitation in the Mura–Drava–Danube UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Culture and history
The Roman Catholic Szent-Vendel Church stands at Fő utca 100 in Drávatamási; its garden contains a statue of Nepomuki Szent János, which is probably considered a later provincial work by a less skilled hand.
Numerous churches and chapels built in Somogy in the 18th century were dedicated to Saint Vendel; Drávatamási is cited as one of the examples.
