Baroque Architectural History and Places of Remembrance

Laffert Kúria is a two-storey Baroque manor house, restored in 2010–2011. It covers just under 560 m²; the garden is 3,300 m² and laid out in the Baroque style, while the modern exhibition space covers 135 m². These three measurements illustrate the different dimensions of the building, garden and exhibition space. Together, they bring the estate’s Baroque design together with a modern exhibition space—an intriguing contrast within the manor house.

The Roman Catholic Szent-István Church was built in 1903–1904 in the Neo-Romanesque style. In contrast with the Baroque manor house, it represents a different architectural period and style. The monument, erected in 2019, honours the German ancestors who settled in the town. As a place of remembrance, it adds a distinct theme to the architectural history: the recognition of these ancestors and their settlement in Dunaharaszti.

Cultural Programme and Swabian Customs

Laffert Kúria plays a central role in the cultural life of Dunaharaszti. As a gallery, it regularly hosts art exhibitions; its salons are venues for music and literary events, chamber performances, film screenings and educational activities. The salons accommodate 50 to 100 people. The programme therefore goes beyond exhibitions, bringing together art, music, literature, film and education. The Sváb Tájház presents the history, traditions and customs of Dunaharaszti’s Swabian community, which are still very much alive, through films, a virtual tour, illustrated accounts and a story. Each format offers a different perspective: films and illustrated accounts convey information visually, while the tour and story offer other forms of presentation. For anyone interested in local culture, the focus here is on the community and both its inherited and living customs.

A Look at Native Plants and Animals

In December 2022, the municipality described information boards along the nature trail on Sport-sziget, which introduce visitors to native plants, fish, reptiles and birds. Alongside architectural history and culture, the local flora and fauna are another theme to explore.
