Twelve gravel-pit lakes, an extensive area of farmsteads and a historic castle define Délegyháza. The lakes within the municipality have a combined water surface area of about 300 ha and are suitable for swimming, fishing and various water sports. There is also a nudist beach with a campsite, opportunities for hiking and horse riding, and the Kölcsey Cultural Centre in Piróth Castle. Lakes for different interests
Some features of Lakes I, II and III are described in more detail: together, they cover 80 hectares. Their beds are irregular, alternating between gravelly and muddy areas, and their depth ranges from 1 to 5 m. Those interested in fishing will also find a specific point of reference here: the Délegyházi Horgász Sportegyesület manages fishing on these three lakes.
The Sirály Beach on Lake Délegyháza II has its own rules. Fishing is not permitted there from 1 May to 30 September. Motor vehicles are also prohibited from entering or parking at the beach. There is an exception for anglers arriving at the beach, but only for the short time needed to launch and retrieve boats. The same rules on entry and parking apply to the lakeside area of Szent István Park on Lake Délegyháza I: both are prohibited, except for the short time arriving anglers need to launch and retrieve boats.
Another distinctive feature is the beach at the Tavirózsa campsite on Lake Délegyháza IV: the competent government authority has not authorised swimming there. So, although the gravel-pit lakes are generally suitable for swimming, swimming is not necessarily possible at every individual beach. If swimming is important to your trip, bear this distinction in mind when choosing your destinations.
Rural landscape and special places
The municipality also includes an extensive area characterised by farmsteads, where visitors can hike and ride horses. This offers a way to look beyond the lakes and discover another side of Délegyháza. These different interests can help guide your choice of a holiday rental, without implying any particular distance between individual places.
Piróth Castle also gives the town a distinct cultural touch: today, it houses the Kölcsey Cultural Centre. It is the only surviving building among Délegyháza’s former castles and manor houses, and is considered the town’s oldest and most richly decorated building. Those interested in architectural history and culture can add a visit to their time by the lakes and in the countryside.
A special tradition and getting there
Délegyháza is home to a nudist beach with a campsite, built as the first of its kind in Hungary and still in operation. It is a special option for travellers specifically looking for a nudist beach. The Délegyházi Napok are also an important part of community life: the event series took place for the 34th time on 20 and 21 June 2026. It is one of the municipality’s biggest summer events and an important annual meeting place for locals and visitors from the surrounding area.
